Over the last two years, the Empowering Underrepresented Women in the Energy Sector—EUWES project has shed light on the persistent gender inequality in the energy sector across the European Union.
The project consortium, led by Society for Sustainable Development Design – DOOR, and supported by partners Focus, ESF, and WECF, identified and mapped the key obstacles women are facing in the energy sector of Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, and Germany. To list just some – absence of gender equality plans in private and public institutions, under-representativeness in managerial positions and workforce, social prejudices preventing them from enrolling in STEM-based education programmes…
The project team jointly developed actionable recommendations for improvements at the national and European levels, paving the way for a more inclusive energy sector.
As the project nears its completion, we would like to widen the discussion on gender (in)equality in the energy sector and opportunities to increase the representation of women in this sector in a more equal and just way.
We invite you to join us at our final project conference that will take place on March 13 and 14, 2025, in Zagreb and contribute to the discussion by presenting the results of your projects or an analysis you have been working on. The goal of the Conference is to create a safe space to discuss the different opportunities to increase gender equality in Europe’s Energy Sector.
You can participate by:
- preparing a short 15-minute presentation or lecture to present results of analysis, project, or similar
- organising 60-minute panel discussion
- organising 60-minute workshop
If you would like to participate, please send us a summary of your presentation, panel or workshop, indicating the type of event, title, key word, presenters, pictures of presenters and 2-3 sentences of short bio of presenters.
