On Friday, December 13, 2024, an inspiring workshop took place at Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević Primary School in Zagreb, bringing together 6th and 8th-grade girls.
The event focused on raising awareness about gender roles, stereotypes, and the importance of having the freedom to choose one’s career path. A particular emphasis was placed on the energy sector, highlighting the importance of breaking down prejudices and empowering girls to pursue careers based on their interests and talents.
The workshop aimed to encourage participants to identify and challenge gender stereotypes that might limit their choices and to inspire them to consider opportunities in fields like energy, which are often viewed through the lens of traditional ideas about “men’s” and “women’s” professions.
By addressing these issues, the event sought to spark curiosity and ambition, showing the girls that they have the power to shape their futures, unrestricted by societal expectations.
Overall, these workshops provided a valuable learning experience for all participants, encouraging them to consider gender equality as an essential factor in shaping the future of energy systems. By engaging in constructive dialogues and group work, students from various educational backgrounds were able to explore the connections between energy and gender, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to contribute to a more just and sustainable energy transition. Through these efforts, the EUWES project continues to empower the next generation of leaders to advocate for gender equality in the energy sector.
