As part of the EUWES project, two essential training sessions were held by project partner ESF in October 2024, focusing on integrating a gender perspective into the energy sector. These sessions targeted both women currently working in the energy industry and university students pursuing energy-related degrees.
First Training: Collaborative Workshop Launches Gender-Focused Support Group in Energy
On October 1, 2024, ESF hosted a hybrid workshop in Lleialtat Santsenca, Barcelona, bringing together 28 women from the energy sector to address gender inclusion. The session, which marked the beginning of an ongoing support group, included discussions on energy policy mapping and feminist recommendations from the EUWES project. Participants co-developed actionable proposals to integrate a gender perspective into the energy sector. The collaborative environment fostered a sense of solidarity and purpose, creating a network to continue promoting equity and innovation in the field.
Second Training: Gender and Energy Workshop for Students (University of Lleida)
On October 15, 2024, ESF hosted a thought-provoking workshop at the University of Lleida focusing on the intersection of gender and energy. This event engaged 28 students from diverse engineering and architecture programs in discussions about energy’s social dimensions and its impact on women. Participants explored concepts like “The Energy Ecotopia” and “Professions for a Just Ecosocial Transition,” fostering collaboration and critical thinking. Many attendees reported gaining valuable insights, highlighting the workshop’s success in promoting gender-awareness among future professionals.
